The mission of the Bill Pickett Memorial Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to deserving students nationwide and provide educational opportunities!
For more than 30 years the Bill Pickett Memorial Scholarship fund (BPMSF) underscores its commitment to the rodeo, education and the arts by providing unique programs for youth and inner-city children.
The BPMSF gives opportunities for students to experience the excitement of the rodeo while learning about the history and contributions of the African American Cowboy and Cowgirl and their impact on the American West. BPMSF is a 501 c3 guided by the rich heritage of Bill Pickett and his influence on the fabric of history.
The BPMSF will continue the tradition of supporting youth through its’ relationship with the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo (BPIR) and will continue to provide an avenue for youth to achieve their educational goals, develop their horsemanship skills and compete in the rodeo.
The BPMSF builds strong communities through providing unique educational programs and various scholarship opportunities and looks forward to expanding its impact for generations to come!
The Goal
Our primary goal is promoting the Bill Picket Invitational Rodeo throughout the country through our education and scholarship programs. We have established four overarching goals that will shape our program areas as well as our funding decisions:
Provide educational opportunities for students furthering their education
Increase the number and dollar amount of the scholarship program
Expand community wide educational programs
Further the understanding and contributions of the African American Cowboy and Cowgirl in the American West
